Late Dr. Baby John Chandrankunnel and his wife Mrs. Valsamma Baby donated 5 acres of land together with three stored building to St. Thomas Province of the Malabar Missionary Brothers at Monacha.  The intention of this donation was to rehabilitate his son at Monacha who was mentally disabled and living at Paduva Rehabilitation Centre, Paruthikkad.  Thus St. John’s rehabilitation centre was started on March 18, 2006 at Thalassery Archdiocese in Kanhangad, Kasarcode for men in the age group of 18 and 45. 

Now there are 20 youth are getting training in different trades.  The training are given in poultry, piggery, husbandry,making newspaper cover, candles, sandal stick and bringing them to the main stream of the social life.  Bro. Mannual J. Paikada is the Superior and Bro. Sebastian Kallukeerthottiyi is the Assistant Superior.
