Mar Joseph Kundukulam, Bishop of Thrissur inaugurated San Jos Ashram and Mercy dispensary on November 8, 1970.  Mercy dispensary became Mercy Hospital when Mar Joseph Kundukulam blessed and inaugurated this centre on March 19, 1974.  There were facilities for 20 inpatients and necessary infrastructure for a small hospital here.  Ashram was shifted to the newly built small building on January 11, 1993.  Then the bungalow, which was owned by the parish was handed over to them.  As the years passed, the small hospitals were facing serious problems.  With the arrival of huge hospitals with more investment in many places, the existence of the small hospital   which was started with the main intension of service, was in a challenge and had to stopped.  Thus Mercy hospital was also had to terminate.

In the beginning of 1990, the inpatient department at Mercy hospital was partially stopped. Afterwards stopped completely and continued the outpatient section.  Then did not hesitate to turn to new service sectors.  With 10 boys San Jos Boys’ Home was started for the education of destitute children.  Year after year more students from all places were coming to Boys’ Home.  As per the necessity new building was constructed and made facility for 50 boys.  As this institute was closed due to J.J. Act, on September 8, 2021, San Jos Care Home was started to protect poor and destitute aged men.  The blessing of this centre was done by Mar Andrews Thazhath, Archbishop of Thrissur and the inauguration was done by Bro. Bastin Karuvelil, Superior General.  Now there are 20 aged men here.  Bro. Thomsan Komban is the superior and Bro. Stephan Olakkengil is the Asst. Superior here.
