The family members of Puliamackal Mathai decided to start a charitable institution for the destitute aged men as a memory of their father, who was a devotee and a well known charity activist in the district of Wyanad. St. Mathew’s Bhavan is the fruit of the hard work of Mrs. Mary Mathai, wife of Mathai Puliamackal and his son Mr. Sebastian. They put up with all facilities for a home for the aged and handed over to MMB Brothers. St. Mathew’s Bhavan was started on April 25, 2004 with 5 members who were neglected by their own family members.

Till now more than 380 destitute aged men spend their last days peacefully and near about 150 inmates have been called for eternal rest, 30 are still living here. Daily expenses of the institute are met with the kind donations of the local people. Bros. Flavion Punerthamkunnel and Anto Puthiyedath are serving here as superior and Assistant Superior.
