During the General Synaxis 2000 the congregation was bifurcated in two provinces: St. Thomas Province (South India) with head quarters at Thrissur and Assisi Province (North India) with head quarters at Bhopal, on June 10. The Navjyoti house, the study house of the junior brothers of the congregation, Bhopal becomes the Provincialate of the Assisi Province. But the study house for the junior brothers is continued here. The initial formation of the candidates recruited by the province is started here in 2003 and continued till 2007. A separate formation house was started at Panna attached to ‘Jesupal Ashram’ and formation house was shifted to there. But for better availability of teachers for higher studies it was again shifted to Bhopal utilizing one portion of the Provincialate building, in the year 2011. The formation house was functioning as a separate house as ‘Navjyoti Gurukul’. New building was setup for ‘Gurukul’ in the Provincialate campus and it was blessed on March 12, 2018 by Mar Anthony Chirayath, Bishop Emeritus of Sagar, and inaugurated by V. Rev. Bro. Sunnylal Avirappattu, then Provincial Superior.
The 2 years of initial formation of the candidates are functioning here. We have got 18 candidates in the Platinum Jubilee year and 6 of them were second year of their formation. Bros. Francis Pynadath and Malam Kujur are serving here as Formation Master and Member respectively.
