During 1950s MMB Brothers took initiative to coordinate the Syro Malabar Christians who are scattered in the area of Palakkad and made sheds in Wadakkumchery, Melarcode, Elavampadom, Palakkad and Kurai & Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu. With the hard work of Brothers sheds were put up for the Holy Mass and catechism of the students.  But, due to lack of funds, we could not start an Ashram there.  The deficiency was solved by starting Paduva Ashram at Paruthikkad, Palakkad. 

On October 19, 1995, in the year of the 8th birth century of St. Antony of Paduva, Msgr. Joseph Veliyathil, the then Vicar General of Palakkad diocese blessed Paduva Ashram. With the planning of some years a rehabilitation centre was started for the training of the mentally challenged youth, Paduva Rehabilitation Centre. As per the number of inmates is increased building was constructed for the same.  Today Paduva have the facilities for the training and rehabilitation of 30 differently abled youth.  The Brothers are giving thanks to God almighty that they are getting an opportunity to bring these mentally challenged to the main stream of the Society. At present 29 youth are getting training in this centre. Now Bro. Shajan Panachickkal is the Superior & Manager of the Ashram and rehabilitation centre. Bro. Charles Airookkaran is Assistant Superior & Assistant Manager of the Ashram and rehabilitation centre.
