MMB Brothers were actively engaged in the missionary services in southern states including Andhra Pradesh from 1953 onwards. The congregation extended their service to North India in the year 1976 through the invitation of Mar Clemens Thottungal CMI, the pioneer bishop of Sagar. The first house in North India was started at Ganj Basoda in an existing old building middle of the fields nearby the railway station. Bro. Fidelis Vayalil was the first missionary who stayed alone there for six months. At the end of the same year Bro. Joseph Payyappilly came to Ganj Basoda to help Bro. Fidelis. He bought 5 acres of land in the main road with the financial assistance from the diocese. After the construction of the building the Maria Seva Bhavan was shifted to the new premises. As per the needs of people of the locality brothers started a dispensary and an old age home. But we were forced to close down the old age home in its infancy itself due to various socio-cultural reasons and the dispensary survived nearly a decade.
Brothers were also involved in various social, pastoral, village development activities from 1980 onwards. The ‘Madonna Boys’ Home’ began functioning in the same campus in a simple way with 10 boys in the year 1985. As per the demand the new building is constructed and arranged with the facilities for 50 inmates. With the experience of two and a half decades of running the Boys’ Home and considering the request of the parents of the boys of the hostel a school was started in 2008 namely St. Joseph School in the Maria Seva Bhavan campus. Initially the school was affiliated to the ICSE board and later shifted to CBSE board New Delhi. Now St. Joseph School reached up to Senior Secondary level with the strength of around 1500 students. Bro. Sunnylal Avarappatt is the manager of the school and Bro. Antony Pynumkal is the Principal.
