In 1995 Rt. Rev. Bishop Antony Fernandez, the then bishop of the Diocese of Bareilly invited MM Brothers for their new apostolate an extra ordinary project of igniting the lives of the children of the border area of Tanakpur, in Uttarakhand through education ministry. Bros. Bastin Karuvelil and Sojan Paikada landed in the suburb of Tanakpur on July 27, 1996. They stayed in a rented house for an year, conducting survey of the locality and searching for a suitable plot of land to buy. As a result they purchased a suitable plot on 7th April 1997 with the financial support of the diocese. A small house and a portion of the school building were constructed side by side.

A strong individual with holistic growth in their intellectual emotional, physical and aesthetic abilities they will commit themselves for the transformation of the present day social condition and contribute towards building up a just and eco-friendly human society, where the values found in the gospel. March 01, 1998 the new House ‘Assisi Villa’ was blessed and in the same year St. Francis School was inaugurated to give quality education. The public response was good and the school was got affiliated to ICSE New Delhi and secured 100% result. But later considering the request of the parents, the school affiliation was shifted to CBSE. A hostel with a capacity of 25 seats was also started especially for Catholic boys.
